Andrew Bonar-Scally
I’m an Editor/Assistant Editor/ DIT. I studied at the National Film School @ IADT Dún Laoghaire and Trinity College Dublin respectively.
As an Editor I have worked on short-form projects ranging from 30 second online pieces to 20 minute short films. The first short I cut, Beautiful Youth (2018), screened in competition at the 2019 Austin Film Festival.
My short form work includes promotional pieces for Älska Cider, Tayto Ireland, a campaign video for Sinn Féin politician Pádraig Mac Lochlainn and many other music videos/events/live gigs.
I have assisted/trainee assisted on feature-length films including Black ‘47 (2018) as well as many short films and have DIT’ed on projects ranging from short-form corporate videos to feature-length films. I have a good working knowledge of formats, codecs and post-production workflows, learned through my time assisting.
I also have experience in a television environment, having worked for Virgin Media Television from September 2018 - September 2019. My role there was Compliance Editor and the job involved working within a team in a busy television station to prepare and send programmes to transmission. My duties included finding spaces in programmes for ad breaks, censorship of content and creative editing such as cutdowns (cutting a show into a shorter length seamlessly to fulfil a time slot requirement). Communication with various departments in the station such as Transmission, Programme Content and Scheduling was an essential part of my job.
